Dr. Sylvain Doré — doctor in neurocritical care, former UF professor, and community advocate — is running to make Florida more affordable, safe, and free for every family in District 21.
"Every politician should be reminded every day that government works for the people, and not the other way around."
— Dr. Sylvain Doré
Meet the Candidate
Sylvain Doré is a renowned brain doctor and former professor of Anesthesiology and Neuroscience at the University of Florida. Originally from Neuville, Québec, he served for thirteen years at UF, rising to the university's Board of Trustees before retiring to focus on his passions for politics, real estate, and philanthropy.
As an active Democrat, Sylvain believes that with the right changes and leadership, Florida can become the safest and most affordable state in the nation. His core values — democracy, freedom, and compassion for all people — have guided every chapter of his life. He is running to serve the families of Alachua and Marion Counties — from Gainesville to Ocala.

A healthy society starts with healthy people. Every Floridian deserves access to the care they need — without financial ruin.
Florida's public education system needs investment, not politicization. Dr. Doré will fight to restore standards and funding for our schools.
Access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare is a fundamental right that must be protected for every woman in Florida.
Floridians can no longer afford Florida. Rising rents, insurance, and inflation demand bold leadership — not bailouts for corporations.
Florida's environment is too precious to destroy. Dr. Doré will champion clean water, endangered species, and climate action.
Safe communities require compassion and pragmatism — evidence-based programs for mental health and addiction, not just punishment.
After dedicating decades to academia as a brain doctor, Sylvain felt compelled to extend his reach by engaging in public service. While his work in education and research significantly benefited his students, he sought a broader platform to effect change on a larger scale.
Becoming a state representative will enable Dr. Doré to influence laws and policies that directly affect the lives of countless Floridians — making the state more affordable, accessible, and safe for working families.
Having nurtured success among his students and colleagues, Dr. Doré sees his candidacy as a natural progression toward promoting the well-being of all Floridians through effective governance and leadership. Above all, his deep-rooted desire to care for people drives him to serve.
As a trained brain doctor, Sylvain incorporated the brain into his logo as a symbol of intellect and innovation. With a nod to artificial intelligence, it represents the core of his life's work.
Both the left and right sides of the brain show a connection — symbolizing the importance of bridging different perspectives, whether on the political spectrum or the educational spectrum, linking STEM with the Arts.
The color gold? A simple translation of his last name: Doré — which means "golden" in French.
